Vintage Ukulele Singer and Banjo Ukulele Duo
Red are a very authentic, sparkling vintage Ukulele duo who will add a unique and lively vintage atmosphere to any party or event. Red cover many decades of vintage Ukulele music from the Edwardian era, the 1920s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s music. The act can be booked as a solo vintage Ukulele singing act or as a Ukulele duo with the addition of a banjo ukulele (banjolele).
The vintage ukulele duo trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where they undertook training in all aspects of musical theatre. One of their first engagements was at the London Palladium. Red have performed at many major venues throughout the UK, including being booked at Goodwood Revival six times, the prestigious Twinwood Festival and the Casablanca Club. Their vast range of corporate engagements have included Marks and Spencer, Tesco, Churchill, Ralph Lauren and Aston Martin.
Red have also performed at regional vintage events including the National Trust, Epsom Racecourse, Vintage Hemingway, Steam Trains all over the UK and military events. They have also performed their ukulele and banjo ukulele at several Museums all over the UK, including prestigious Museums such as the Brooklands Motor Museum and the Imperial War Museum. Red have been described by Alesha Dixon as ‘great fun’ and ‘very professional’, and by Simon Cowell as ‘authentically vintage’. They have also worked at several major events for BBC Radio Four Presenter, Paddy O’Connell and BBC Radio Two.
The ukulele duo’s costumes range from ‘flapper’ dresses of the 1920s and lovely ‘tea dresses’ of the 1940s, to full evening dress, tailored suits, white ties and tails. Red have their very own state of the art PA system and backing tracks. If desired, the ukulele duo can walk around acoustically with their ukulele and banjo ukulele. For larger events, a live 1920s band can also be provided.
