MF Robots combines the talents of Brand New Heavies founder, drummer and main songwriter, Jan Kincaid – responsible for 16 top 40 hits 2 million album sales – with vocalist and fellow ‘Heavy’, Dawn Joseph, who has sung backing vocals for everyone from Rod Stewart to Phil Collins, Michael Buble to Craig David.
MF Robots revamp and renew the classic production values and songwriting standards of the golden age to create timeless contemporary classics. Their music combines an eclectic plethora of musical styles including hard funk, electronic, acid jazz, smooth soul, and pop sensibilities to form their unique sound. Together the duo aims to create a brand new sound that draws inspiration from across the spectrum of musical styles and influences. “We want to provide a little escapism for the soul,” explains Jan Kincaid. “Providing exciting energy and music that is both current and able to stand the test of time.”
MF Robots launched onto the scene with their disco debut single, The Night is Calling, and followed this with the funked up grooves of their second track, Come On With The Good Thing. Both tracks appear on their debut album. MF Robots enjoyed a busy summer in 2017, with their debut live gig at The Bussey Building in April, followed by a host of European and UK dates, including Margate Soulfest, playing alongside Trevor Nelson, and Arrested Development in August. They also played their first headline gig at Oslo Hackney on 21st September.
With a brand new groove from two well established artists, MF Robots will be one to watch as they continue to fuse musical styles in their own unique and eclectic way.
