Book Emily Watkins
Celebrity Chef
Emily Watkins is available to book for your special event – we work in direct association with Emily Watkins’s representative as a booking agent for her. Emily Watkins owns The Kingham Plough in Oxfordshire along with her husband. She is also the chef at the restaurant. Assisted only by a junior chef, Emily’s simple dishes bring out all of the flavours of the wonderful pantry of the Cotswolds.
After a degree in business at the University of the West of England , Emily began her career as a chef . Her love for food and cooking and wanting to learn anything and everything about cooking got her on a plane to Italy with the Michelin guide in her hand and little else. Walking the streets of Florence, Emily explored only those restaurants which had received high ratings in the guide. Finally she managed to get an unpaid job at one of her favourite restaurants, Ristorante Beccofino, where she dedicated herself not only in the kitchen but also waitressing tables. She fully utilized her time learning the language and impressed with her commitment the restaurant offered her a full time paid job in the kitchen.
She felt she was ready for her next challenge, after spending two and half years of inspirational learning in the Italian ethos. She had always dreamed of working at her most favourite restaurant The Fat Duck. Her head chef encouraged Emily to apply for a job and she did. She was immediately offered the job she wanted.
While Emily was working at The Fat Duck, in the year 2004 they were awarded three Michelin stars and the “Best restaurant in the world” award. Emily moved to London in 2005 where she worked as a private chef , before moving to Oxfordshire in 2007, to fulfil her dream of opening her own restaurant. Along with a business partner, she undertook an 8-month refurbishment and armed with the youthful enthusiasm they opened their doors of The Kingham Plough.
She is now married and has 3 young children. Emily Watkins had participated and she came second for the South West region on BBC’s popular show Great British Menu in 2013. Her main course got 10 out of 10. Last year in BBC2’s Great British Menu Emily made it all the way through to the final banquet. Her fish dish for the Veterans of WW2’s D-Day won it for her.
