Early Promise
Born in Buckinghamshire, Matt Tebbutt’s family moved to Wales when he was six months old and he grew up there, attending Rougemont School in Newport. Initially studying Geography and Anthropology at Oxford Brookes University, Matt Tebbutt soon discovered his love for food and went on to start training as a chef. Soon he had gained his diploma at Leith’s School of Food and Wine in London and was mixing with the likes of famous chef Marco Pierre White after gaining a traineeship with the restauranteur at The Oak Room. He also added to his expertise and experience with a stint at Chez Bruce before going on to encounter career defining knowledge working with his hero Alastair Little. He credits working with the renowned chef for having a great influence on his cooking and cuisine.

Matt Tebbutt’s Television and Culinary Career
Matt Tebbutt started to build on his reputation as an accomplished chef when he took over running the Foxhunter Pub alongside his wife. In 2001, they took over the establishment and over time they turned it into an acclaimed and award-winning restaurant. They continued to run it for over fifteen years before leasing it as a pub once more so Matt Tebbutt could turn his sights to working on his television career that had started to take off. He first graced the screens in 2009 where he started guest presenting the BBC One show Saturday Kitchen, soon he had become a permanent placement and is now the regular host. Alongside this Matt Tebbutt also presents Channel 4 show Food Unwrapped which looks at the production of food. The charismatic chef has also worked as a co-presenter on Drop Down Menu, Market Kitchen, Christmas Kitchen and Save Money: Good Food.

With a successful career that has led to numerous projects and work both on and off the screen, Matt Tebbutt has become a familiar face in the industry. He has also won a number of awards for his work on the Foxhunter, including the AA Restaurant of the Year for Wales and being voted Britain’s Best Food Pub in 2007.
